PEACHTREE CITY, GA – MAY 13, 2024 – The Printed Circuit Engineering Association (PCEA) today announced technology visionary Harold Moss will keynote the upcoming PCB East technical conference with his address, “Embracing AI in Electronic System Design: Shaping the Future with Confidence.” Moss is renowned for his expertise in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, having launched major programs at IBM, EMC and other major OEMs.
Moss will speak at 11 a.m. on June 5, 2024, at the Boxboro Regency in Boxborough, MA, as part of PCB East.
As we stand on the precipice of the AI revolution, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into electronic system design represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of technology. In this keynote address, Moss will delve into the profound impact of AI on electronic system design and explore why embracing this transformative technology is not just advantageous but imperative. From streamlining design processes to optimizing performance and reliability, AI holds the potential to revolutionize every aspect of electronic system design. Moss will address common misconceptions and fears surrounding AI, emphasizing its role as an enabler of innovation rather than a threat to human creativity and ingenuity.
“There is tremendous interest in our field in the possibilities that artificial intelligence offers and how AI might affect workers’ traditional roles,” said Mike Buetow, president of PCEA and conference chairman, PCB East. “We have, of course, seen many technologies presented as the ‘The Next Big Thing,’ only to see them take much longer than forecast to mature or completely fizzle out. Harold Moss has a long history of taking new technologies to market and is well-suited to describe what we can expect from AI going forward.”
Moss’s journey in the tech industry began with a notable tenure at IBM, where he honed his skills in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and cloud solutions. His innovative approach and strategic insights led to significant advancements in IBM’s offerings, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the field.
Moss later played pivotal roles at EMC, Akamai Technologies, and various other organizations, where he has consistently demonstrated his ability to leverage emerging technologies to drive business innovation and growth.
As chief executive of Tautuk, Moss remains at the forefront of technological innovation, guiding the company toward new frontiers in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and beyond.

PEACHTREE CITY, GA – FEBRUARY 1, 2022 – PCB East today announced the international electronics industry consultant Gene Weiner, fresh off a trip across the Atlantic where he visited several emerging companies, will keynote this year’s conference. Weiner’s talk, “From Possibility to Reality,” will paint a picture of exciting possibilities in additive manufacturing, materials, equipment, components and other developments that may be in full swing in the next few years.
The PCB East conference and exhibition will return April 11-13, 2022, to Marlborough, MA. Weiner’s keynote, which is free to all conference and exhibition registrants, takes place April 12 at 11 a.m.
“It’s a new day for industry engineers,” says Weiner, “facing challenges and opportunities with new tools, products and software at their disposal to create never before possible interconnected packages.
“A realm of new possibilities in design and manufacturing are being made possible by rapidly emerging advances in a wide variety of additive manufacturing processes of printed circuits and precision components, as well as specialty substrates.
“Looming new technologies, including AI, offer the chance to create new designs, such as precision capacitors in situ, odd-shaped precision inductors (in place), precision shielding in place, rapid precise placement of Type 6 or 7 solder pastes permitting higher first-pass yield on assembly of very fine components, and more that could reduce re-spins or make faster adjustments.
“Design engineers who are aware of these innovations in equipment, processes, and materials and their capabilities can be more creative. One of the challenges will be to establish standards for newly designed products and their compositions.”
In this keynote, Weiner will draw upon his more than a half-century of global firsts and experiences with major inflection points and new product entries into the PCB fabrication and EMS sectors of electronic packaging to introduce and predict the possible and the probable.
“Few people in the world have seen the variety of printed circuit, semiconductor and electronics packaging technologies that Gene Weiner has, and ever fewer are able to put them in the context of how they can be implemented,” said Mike Buetow, president of PCEA and conference director, PCB East. “I guarantee attendees will come away with their eyes opened to new possibilities for design and manufacturing.”

ATLANTA, GA – MAY 12, 2021 – UP Media Group Inc. today announced the PCB East conference and exhibition will return to the Boston area in April 2022.
The three-day technical conference will take place April 11-13, 2022, in Marlborough, MA. The event includes a one-day exhibition on April 12.
“The pandemic may have postponed our plans for a year, but it won’t stop us from returning to Boston to serve the PCB industry’s need for expert training,” said Mike Buetow, editor in chief, PCD&F/CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY and conference director, PCB East. “We look forward to returning to face-to-face interaction. In the meantime, we want to remind design and manufacturing engineers about PCB West, taking place in October in Santa Clara, California.”
A call for presentations will be available shortly. Visit pcbeast.com for details.

ATLANTA, GA – APRIL 29, 2021 – The PCB East conference and exhibition will be postponed until next year because of the continuing impact of Covid-19 on the region and local restrictions on the size of gatherings. The show will return to the Boston area in Spring 2022.
“After much thoughtful consideration and given the continuing impact of Covid-19, UP Media Group has made the difficult decision to postpone PCB East until Spring of 2022,” said Frances Stewart, vice president of sales and marketing, UPMG. “We have been actively following advisories from the state of Massachusetts with the expectation that PCB East 2021 could successfully move forward. However, current regulations in Massachusetts limit gatherings in venues to 100 maximum per group, thereby restricting our ability to hold an appropriately sized exhibition, to host networking events, and to offer enough seating for the technical conference.
“This was a difficult decision, but one we feel was necessary to ensure both the safety of and a high-quality event for our attendees, exhibitors and speakers. We believe it is important to host a PCB supply chain event on the East coast, and we are confident we can host such an event safely – and successfully – in 2022.”
PCB West 2021, scheduled for the Santa Clara Convention Center on October 5-8, is unaffected by the decision to postpone PCB East.

ATLANTA, GA APRIL 1, 2021 – A pair of industry experts will offer their popular and informative advice on how to avoid the most common design errors caught by fabrication when PCB East returns to the Boston area in June.
In a free two-hour session for all attendees registered for the one-day exhibition on June 16, Ray Fugitt of DownStream Technologies and Dave Hoover of TTM Technologies, will cover the 20 (or so) mistakes seen most often by printed circuit board manufacturers, and discuss ways to prevent them.
“This two-hour session is one of our most popular at our annual PCB West event, and we are delighted to bring it to PCB East in 2021,” said Mike Buetow, editor in chief, PCD&F/CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY and conference director, PCB East. “Our presenters interview many of the largest PCB manufacturers in the US and abroad and have compiled an ever-growing list of the most common errors found on incoming designs. It’s an interactive, not-to-be-missed session.”
Attendee participation is encouraged, and registrants are asked to bring their challenges for discussion.
Exhibition-only attendees can register for the free one-day exhibition on June 16 in Marlborough, MA, which includes this session, at www.pcbeast.com. Conference attendees may register at pcbeast.com for the three-day technical conference, which takes place June 15-17.
